PROGRAM

Having a dedicated coach

There is no substitute for having a dedicated coach—someone who can lead you through the basics of paddling to more advanced techniques, to help you develop the expertise to become a skilled paddler, with the physical and mental tools to enjoy a sport for life.

Customized training to meet your needs

ARE instructors Iloha Eychenne and Teihotu Dubois coach individual paddlers and teams, both online and in person. In their online courses, you are required to have a video camera so your paddling can be videotaped in-between sessions and reviewed in class. You will also need your own canoe, paddle, and have access to the water.

Workshops are customized according to the paddler’s level of expertise. They begin by assessing a paddler’s level of proficiency and customizing a training plan based on specific goals. This includes determining a paddler’s endurance level (“mileage”) to establish their physical potential and help set up a specific interval training program.

The ARE TAHITI Model: A "SMART" way to learn how to paddle

Our program is built on a foundation of five core principles:

S: Specific, clearly stated goals

M: Measurable ways to assess your success

A: Achievable, realistic outcomes

R: Rewarding experiences that give you pleasure and a feeling of achievement

T: Time-based structure with a deadline for completion
